Kandy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the last royal capital of Sri Lanka and remains one of the country’s most important cultural and religious centers. The city is home to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), which houses the tooth relic of the Buddha and attracts pilgrims from around the world. Visitors can stroll around the beautiful Kandy Lake, explore the Royal Palace complex, and experience traditional Kandyan culture. Surrounded by misty hills and tropical greenery, Kandy is also famous for the vibrant Esala Perahera festival. The best time to visit is during the dry months from December to April.
